HOW LEARNING WORKS

A clear route from study to teaching practice

1

Study the principles

Work through the online lessons at your own pace and revisit difficult sections when needed.

2

Connect anatomy to movement

Relate joint actions and muscle function to exercise selection, cueing and modification.

3

Practise teaching decisions

Use progressions, regressions and class structure to adapt work to the person in front of you.

4

Complete the assessment

Assessment varies by course and can include knowledge quizzes and a practical teaching submission.

WHAT YOU BUILD

Competence before labels

EFWA’s approach begins with the reasoning behind a movement. The aim is to help you explain what is happening, choose an appropriate exercise and adapt it responsibly — rather than simply memorising a sequence.

  • Movement analysis using joint actions and muscle roles
  • Clear verbal cueing and exercise demonstration
  • Progression and regression for different abilities
  • Session planning, sequencing and teaching structure
  • Awareness of scope, safety and when to refer

QUICK ANSWERS

Online Pilates Instructor Courses FAQ

Which Pilates course should I choose first?

Choose Mat if you want a broad, equipment-light starting point. Choose Reformer if you have access to a Reformer and plan to teach in that setting. Pregnancy and Kids are specialist routes. Choose Master if you want all four courses and the strongest package value.

Do I need previous teaching experience?

Prior experience can help, but the course pages explain the entry level and learning outcomes for each programme. If you are unsure, contact EFWA before enrolling so the team can help you choose an appropriate route.

Do I need a Reformer at home?

You need access to a Reformer to practise the Reformer material effectively and to complete any practical work that requires the equipment. This may be at home or, with permission, at a local studio.

Can I study around work or family commitments?

Yes. The programmes are online and self-paced, so you can organise study and practice around your schedule rather than attend a fixed cohort timetable.

How am I assessed?

Assessment varies by course and can include online knowledge quizzes and a practical teaching submission. Review the individual course page for the exact requirements.

Will the certificate meet my employer or insurer’s rules?

Requirements differ between organisations and countries. Ask the relevant employer, professional body or insurer what they require, then compare that answer with the course description before purchasing.
